  1. *Bishop T.D. Jakes on Healing Fatherless America: “Give What You Didn’t
    Get”*

For children raised without fathers, there is a hole in the soul many try
to fill with promiscuity, drugs and other unhealthy behavior. However,
Bishop T.D. Jakes says, there is a way everyone can fill it in a positive
way—by giving what you didn’t get. Find out how, he says, fulfilling that
role for another fatherless child can help heal your own heart. Plus, learn
how to become a father when you didn’t have one yourself.

  3. I honestly feel that it depends on the father—having a father around that
doesn’t want to be there or is violent/abusive is far worse than not having
a father. A lot of people grow up with fathers “in the home” but who aren’t
really present. Even though they have a “father figure” they don’t live
with the sense of acceptance or protection at all. Not all parents love
their children. A person needs loving mentors in their life–they don’t
have to be male or a biological parent.

  4. Yes! A father certainly doesn’t have to be male because I have had the
experience of seeing someone close to me reconnect with their ‘father’ and
all he was good for was encouraging him to have promiscuous sex, fast cars,
and fighting. A lot of men define their manhood with these really
dangerous, violent and shallow things then introduce it to their sons in
the name of ‘connecting’ and only make them ignorant or shorten their life
span. Its better a father like that not be around.

  5. Giving what you didn’t get is an act of the will and the intent of a heart
that is ready to connect. Dads can do this when they know better.

  6. WRONG I WANTED TO BE A GOOD FATHER BUT NEVER HAD A GOOD EXAMPLE YOU CANT
    GIVE WHAT YOU DIDNT HAVE

  7. T.D. Jakes is supposed to be a Christian (believes in Jesus Christ as being
the only way to be saved); Oprah has already publicly stated that she did
not believe in only one way. And here they are sitting on TV together
    trying to make money.

  8. Barack Obama, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan… you won’t see Oprah or TD Jakes
talk about the real issues that’s affecting your life and this country only
    side issues.

  9. i agree only with a 1/3 of what you said, when ever something grows in a way
that nuture never intended it has a crock in it or a
bend(disorder)..mentors are a source but not the source..men need to get it
together, society is in trouble and i blame men ..men are extremely
important and if they only knew the ditch in a childs life that they need
to fill they would be more app to be all that they can be.not having a
    father brings major problems

  10. Romans 9:4 Who are ISRAELITES; to whom pertaineth the ADOPTION, and the
glory, and the covenants, and the Giving of the Law, and the service of
God, and the Promises; “The MOST HIGH will adopt HIS OWN. WAKE UP BLACK
MAN, WOMAN, HISPANIC MAN, WOMAN, and NATIVE AMERICAN MAN and WOMAN. Repent
and turn back to your Father, he will ADOPT you AGAIN.” Keyword “AGAIN”

  11. This is what I have to say about those of you who are criticizing td jakes
because he is not acknowledging Jesus in his teachings. Don’t be fooled
into thinking that he is denying the Christ that is in him, because he is
not, but you cannot feed people something they do not know of. TD jakes is
simply applying his Christian values into a secular audience, if he begins
preaching people will walk out, televisions will be switched off, but by
inspiration he is intriguing his audience sparking an interest in saying to
themselves “you know what, bishop tell me who are you serving?” And from
there I can guarantee you it won’t be long til these non believers will be
grafted in the branches of life as Jesus is the vine. Let your life speak
the sermon and shut your mouth then you will see the difference.
